Pitching Part 2! How to be confident!

I really like to show by example instead of saying X and X and you will win. I like to provide some background. When you tell someone to do something, 50/50 they will do it. When you give people a compelling reason Why They should do it, 100% they will.

Oh the places you go and the people you meet

Have you ever decided to wake up one day and take a vacation? You don’t really know where you are going, who you are going to meet, what you are going to do or where you will be when you get there but you are excited that you have the ability to jump on a plane and go somewhere whenever you want to go wherever you want .

I did just that two weeks ago.

I woke up on Monday thinking, “It’s time for some adventure. Where should I book my plane ticket?”

To create an experience, I decided to visit, an organization that allows you to connect with other travel enthusiasts and crash their couch for free. Don’t do this before some initial fear. But I think fear prevents all of us from harnessing our potential.

I texted Nelson in Orlando, Florida and said “Hey Nelson ৷ I’m thinking of booking a spontaneous trip to Orlando if you allow me to ruin your couch.” Nelson immediately replied “Of course. Come down.” That’s when I found myself booking a flight ticket from Iowa to Orlando at 1:30 on Monday. I was in the air at 4:30 in the afternoon. I was in Orlando at 8:30 pm.

I can afford to stay in a luxury hotel and often do but this trip is not like that. It was about going somewhere I had never been and doing something I had never done before. That’s exactly what happened during the five days I was there. I met a filmmaker from LA, a marathon runner from Peru with whom I also shared a couch, an engineer from Thailand, a psychology student and many more. Think of getting in a car with complete strangers, all from different backgrounds, from different countries, and from different lifestyles who share a common purpose, travel and their love for people. We are all 20 people who did not let fear stand in the way of meeting new people and doing new things as a way to connect us using technology.

Couchsurfing. There are lots of questions around it, including what is safe? What do you do How are the hosts? Etc … I have only had one experience and I can tell you that the experience has changed my outlook and my life. I was able to meet amazing people, do incredible things and go to places I couldn’t go on my own. We went to NASA together, did air boating through Everglade together, and went to party together. We even played cards, listened to music, and enjoyed each other’s stories and company in different restaurants.

Do I have to do it again? Yes!

Until I go on a business trip where a hotel is needed I want to continue creating these experiences because there is a famous saying that says “in 5 years you will be the same person and the people you meet except the books you read. ” And while hotels are great and much more comfortable than a couch, the experience of being around yourself and enjoying the company of strangers is absolutely priceless.

I encourage you to do couchsurfing at least once in your life. Please read the host’s referrals before you do and make sure you are careful to stay safe. He was down to earth, kind, compassionate, and an amazing man around but it goes without saying that every experience would be like this.

Do you know what your employees think of you?

If you haven’t asked anyone or spent time with your team lately, you probably won’t.

Some leaders will say that they don’t care about liking, but I can tell you from personal experience that trying to win the hearts of your employees, gain their trust and make them happy can make a huge difference in your company.

I didn’t start with much. I have no fancy education or postgraduate degree. In fact, I didn’t get my honorary high school diploma until I was 54! Yet our company is successful, and our employees are happy. Without interacting with people and working to gain their trust, I would never have been able to do this.

Even with more than 6,400 employees scattered around the world, connecting with them is one of my top priorities. Let me tell you why.

If employees are happy, you will see results

The relationship between you and your people – And Their perception of that relationship – makes a huge difference between their productivity and the overall quality of their work. Studies show that happy employees are more productive, and that people who think they’re working for a better company (or as I say, “including”) work harder and stick around.

Building trust and respect has a huge impact. Fortunately, a little effort can go a long way. Here are some things that have helped me build trust and respect in our company:

1. Lead from the back.

This means putting the interests of your employees above your own needs and financial interests. Google recently responded to a request from a little girl for an official letter from the company to give her father a day off for her birthday and a full week off for the father. Showing such care has an immense effect.

2. Set an example.

If you set a high bar for yourself, people in your company will follow suit. I always try to get to the office first thing in the morning and last at night. I want the great people I work with to know that I am willing to work hard, just as I know they work hard every day of the year.

3. Get time to face with staff.

We organized town hall meetings, which were very successful. For these gatherings, I go to one office at a time to say hello to our family members at each location, to ask me questions and to give me a chance to learn about the current state of the company. Most importantly, these town hall meetings present a great opportunity for people to share their personal stories with me and their colleagues.

4. Do what you say.

If you say you will do something, do it! It’s that simple. Yet it is amazing how many people do not do what they say. If you have less time or you don’t want to do anything, don’t be afraid to say “no”. People will learn to respect you as someone who keeps his word.

5. Create a responsibility team.

If you are serious about doing what you say, form a team to hold you accountable. You set the standard for integrity in your company. If you take it seriously, others will too.

6. Limit the bureaucracy.

We try to limit how many levels of management our company has because it keeps our organization organized and minimizes miscommunication. We align our leadership with personality rather than logistics. For example, our regional manager who oversees some Midwestern states also manages some southern states because he works well with the managers and personalities there. Limited bureaucracy gives people quick and easy access to leadership, which shows them that the company cares.

7. Don’t forget the little things.

Saying “thank you”, sending birthday cards, or remembering details about people’s lives can go a long way. While an email or a phone call can make sense, for real connection you need to spend time with people – outside of work and with them at their jobs.

While you can’t force everyone to like you, you can make it clear that you care about the well-being of your employees. If you promise to see them as individuals with their lives, interests and needs – and ask your managers to do the same – I guarantee you will see a positive change in your company. Why listening leads to learning

So here’s a random and funny fact about Jordan: I love Ernest Hemingway; In fact, I once posted a picture of him on my personal Instagram with the Man Crush Monday #bae caption. His short stories are iconic and timeless. He is one of the greatest American writers, and his ability to express literary imagery is an absolute turn-on. Now, we should probably get back on track.

Have you ever heard the saying, “God gave us two ears and a mouth so we should hear twice as much as we talk …”?

God, that sounds like a clich, but it’s a valid point. It took me years to realize that Listen Towards Learning. When I started Pretty Girl Movement, LLC, I went into venture with a false adventure. I had this ridiculous idea in my mind that I knew everything I needed to know about business. How hard can it be? I googled some things, read some books and I knew the basic math. My mentality was very narrow; I thought until I fully understood the word Profit indicator, Then I was tough. I was walking aimlessly along the yellow brick road after my sexy red slipper with the enthusiastic posture of my followers.

Side note: You will find that when you start a business, especially when you are under 30, people will want to get on the train. Your coworkers will be fascinated by your ambition. I would like to quote wise and underrated rapper Mike Jones, “H *** didn’t want me then; Now I’m hot *** all over me. “

Don’t allow Yes Crew to influence your ego or your state of mind. The above leads me to my point string:

1. Keep your ego in check.

Side note: This is an assumed fact because it is not really a secret; I am a complete believer. All my colleagues are aware of my team tendencies. I’m shameless. 3) I know everything about business, and I don’t need any kind of advice. Allow me to put things in perspective for you. No matter how successful you are, there is always going to be a more successful person listed on an issue Forbes Like # 1 whatever. Hard and consistent work, especially performed by people under the age of 30, will lead to a movement that will attract attention. Often, the attention you get will come from people who are more experienced and successful than you. If you are lucky enough that one of these people recognizes your potential and pulls you aside, you need to remember the aforementioned clich সম্পর্কে about God and the ear. I have no idea why people let such ridiculous ideas swallow them up. Our ability to search independently is an innate human trait. Seriously, think about it. If the question of the shape of the earth (i.e. plane vs. round) had not been raised, we would not have had the luxury Disney cruise sailing tourists to the Bahamas; More importantly, we will not have Disney World.


Do not limit your own ability to get answers. The perfect example, when my investors presented me with these questions, I could flex my false adventures. I could pretend to know the answer. I mean, Google is actually accessible to anyone. I could easily Google the answers to each of his questions. However, I did not choose that option.

Why? Because a superficial answer will never be as valuable as an experienced response. To further illustrate my point, think in terms of simple sentences versus compound sentences.

That means the spot has run. (Easy aka my googled answer)

The spot ran because the birds were chasing him down the street, and we all know the birds are serial killers. (Compound aka Investor Insights)

Public Service Announcement: If you are under 30, you have an exceptional benefit. People assume you don’t know much anyway. In addition, you will realize that people are so fascinated by your youthful ambitions that they will want to help you. Get all the free help you can get, because once your youthful ambitions start to fade, those people start referring to themselves as professionals and those casual conversations turn into suggestions at a rate of + 100 + every 45 minutes.

3. Be acceptable – put Rx before Tx.

This is going to be my shortest, most outspoken and final point. When someone shares insights with you, Don’tReply with, “I know.” Duration. When you throw “I know” in a conversation, people subconsciously dismiss you. They don’t want to know you – that’s why they’re ticking. They just want to Rx you. Listen to Duh

Allow me to share some more personal goodies with all of you. There have been some wonderful opportunities to seek and hear mentorship. I received an invitation to the awards ceremony; I’ve been blessed with free press on many occasions, and in the end, I’ve learned a lot and I’ve met some pretty interesting guys. That’s right- this is not about me. I’m simply saying that you should approach each educational opportunity with three basic ideas in your back pocket: Control your ego, ask questions and be acceptable.

Keep these in your backpack for your walk on the entrepreneurial yellow brick road.

Under 30 CEO is an open letter to readers

Hey guys it’s Matt. I really want to write you an honest email about the future of Under30CEO …

As you may have noticed, our community has lost its luster. Once upon a time there was a vibrant community of young people trying to control our future which was slowly but surely declining.

Our attempt to move from some bloggers to a media company didn’t really work.

We launched two sites that failed: Under 30 Finance And Under 30 careers And we basically become a content farm. Finally, Google punished us because we had hundreds of guest contributors who were just contributing for linkback …

Our traffic has dropped from 500,000+ monthly uniques that were once proud.

In the meantime, I was delighted around the world to create our travel agency Under 30 Experience. Today, I’m typing this on my iPhone and writing to you in Costa Rica poolside …

But we forgot about you.

Reader. Who gave us the start in the first place. You rarely hear from us and probably think we are making money from this site in heaven …

But that screw.

Jared and I are 30 years old this year and we have to make a decision about this site.

We can only snatch money from advertising and publish the content of half a donkey … Or we can take this blog back and make it our own again.

And no media company is nonsense. An employed team of awesome young people who are looking for something more out of life.

We want to go back to our roots.

The Challenges Facing Our Generation: Responding to an Open Letter to the Under 30 CEO

Hey guys, Matt again.

I hope you enjoyed my honesty in an open letter to the Under 30CEO readers yesterday. It was really amazing to hear the extraordinary outpouring from our readers.

Instead of disappearing into the jungle as I usually do, my first step is to have better communication with you.

Today, I really want to discuss the challenges of our generation.

Most of what you say is that the real content you want to hear is authentic, straight from the heart, from people you know and trust.

When I asked what your biggest challenges were, many of you spread it and talked to me about depression, hate, your relationship failure, your parental approval, increasing your mental, physical and spiritual health, work-life balance, and how. Make friends who will support you.

I am glad to see how you have revealed so many personal details to me and the answer I was looking for could not really be clearer.

Very few sites address the real challenges of our generation when writing to you as a faithful friend.

As human beings, we are at a great cross-road.

Our population is spiraling out of control, the pressure on our planet is almost unbearable, the gap between rich and poor is growing dramatically, and many people who have it all are struggling with depression, suicide or just a total apathy towards life.

In the meantime, we are in this integration with technology that makes us all interconnected.

Although we may feel lonely, we can text a friend at any moment, watch inspirational TED talk to help us through our difficult times, download any self-help book written at the click of a button, or take a free course on any subject. Wanted to know about.

Soon, electric cars will run on their own and we will create super-green communities that are completely self-sustaining. People are waking up to the fact that life is not about making money as they were set The wolves on Wall Street When the rest of the world struggles.

Anything really possible. The only thing that holds us back is the limits of the mind.

So, I would like to ask you again: What is the main challenge with our generation?
